The Justice Connect Program

Delivering Astria for Tasmania

User acceptance testing

The Justice Connect Program Team has facilitated a series of user acceptance testing (UAT) sessions with staff members from the Tasmania Prison Service and Community Corrections. On 12, 13 and 15 December 2023, 29 staff members worked through a range of scenarios to put the new system to the test.

The majority of testers see real benefit in using Astria and believe it will improve the way they do their work on a daily basis. The testers gave valuable feedback and suggestions on the scenarios that were tested. The Project Team will improve the scenarios which will then be used as part of a structured training program for staff. There will be two more rounds of UAT early 2024, and staff will be invited again to participate.

Release 1 of the Astria digital solution saw the implementation of the Jury portal in the Supreme Court in March 2023. The portal is now used by Jurors and staff in the courts in Hobart, Launceston and Burnie.

Release 2 in 2024 will see the Tasmania Prison Service and Community Corrections using Astria.

Astria will replace many systems currently used by these Outputs and using Astria will reduce the need for multiple entries and manual and paper-based processes. Astria will bring more efficient workflows, increase the accuracy and availability of information and improve the quality and timeliness of the services these Outputs of the Department of Justice deliver.
