The State Budget 2020-21 announced capital services funding to the Department of Justice that included $6 million over two years for the extension of the Justice Connect program to include supporting the needs of the Single Tribunal.
The establishment of a single Tasmanian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, or TasCAT, is a significant reform to streamline services, improve assistance and access to alternative dispute resolution programs. Co-location of nine tribunals took place in July 2020 which will allow the tribunals to amalgamate and commence operations as a single tribunal in 2021.
This additional funding will provide TasCAT with access to Astria as its third and final implementation stage.
